Information on collecting and processing personal data

Dear interviewee!
As part of my bachelor’s degree in architecture at the Vienna University of Technology (hereinafter referred to as “TU Wien”), I am currently working on my bachelor's thesis.

Writing this scientific paper involves the collection and use of personal data.

The processing of personal data must be carried out in accordance with the applicable data protection regulations, therefore I may inform you about the data processing as follows in accordance with Art 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

2. Description of the bachelor thesis
The birthing experience is a critical event that can impact a person's physical and emotional well-being. There is a great chance that hospitals will not be able to provide single family rooms only, despite the discomfort of a shared room. This study aims to identify and analyse the key factors that influence comfort levels in shared hospital maternity rooms. By exploring potential improvements in areas such as room design, privacy measures, and patient-centered care. This research seeks to provide recommendations that can improve the post-partum experience in shared rooms.

Purpose of data processing
The purpose of this survey is to question people who have been given birth in an hospital about their experiences and opinions on their post-partum stay at a hospital. This survey aims to find out what could have been better for people who were recovering in a shared maternity room.

Legal basis
The legal basis for processing this personal data is Article 6(1)(c) GDPR in conjunction with Section 80 of the Austrian Bachelor Theses Act.
Article 6(1)(c) GDPR standardises the processing of personal data for the fulfilment of a legal obligation to which the controller is subject.
§§ 80ff UG represent the legal obligation. A distinction is made depending on the type of academic work:
• § Section 80 UG concerns the Bachelor's thesis (Art 6 para 1 lit c GDPR in conjunction with Section 80 UG);
The data protection law justification for processing the data is not the consent of the data subject.

Recipients of transfers and transfers to third countries
Your personal data is or may be transmitted to the following recipients or categories of recipients as authorised:
to the university concerned (TU Wien), in particular to the supervisor of the scientific work

Storage duration
As proof of good scientific practice and for the verifiability of the selected method and the results obtained, the logging and documentation of the scientific procedure is stored on durable and secure data carriers. This is done in compliance with data protection regulations and is not accessible to third parties. Data is stored in accordance with the statutory provisions and is until this paper is finished

Rights of affected persons
According to the GDPR, you have the following rights as a data subject:
• Right of access to the personal data concerned (Art 15 GDPR)
• Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR) or erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) or to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR) under the conditions described in the aforementioned provisions
• Right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority, Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, telephone: +43 1 52 152-0, e-mail:dsb@dsb.gv.at as the competent supervisory authority.

Article 11 GDPR also stipulates that the separate traceability of data to individuals does not have to be guaranteed in order to safeguard the rights of data subjects.
